    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Daniel Knight was a master builder elected to The Carpenters' Company in 1789 (signed Articles in 1791) who paid his admission in carpenters work, specifically the trim and balusters of the second floor window at Carpenters' Hall. He served as Warden of The Company (1797-1799) and as a member of the Managing Committee (1800-1807, 1813, 1815-1817, 1819-1821).     <dcterms:title><![CDATA[Knight, Daniel Ridgway]]></dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Daniel Ridgeway Knight was a master builder elected to the Carpenters' Company in 1829. His father, Daniel Knight, had been a member of the Company since 1789. Daniel completed insurance surveys of the Company's headquarters, Carpenters' Hall, first in 1851 and 1857. He was also on the sub-committee for refitting the Hall during its restoration in 1857. Knight also served multiple terms on the Managing Committee, a term on the Library Committee as well as a Warden and finally the Carpenters' Company Secretary in 1839. Along with his brother, Robert Knight, Daniel Knight, built the Philadelphia Contributionship for the Insuring of Houses from Loss by Fire at 212 Fourth Street designed by Thomas Ustick Walter. Daniel was also involved in building the Thomas Butler Mansion, known as the home of the Philadelphia Club, which was designed by William Strickland. During his life, Knight resided at 192 Cherry Street, 202 Mulberry Street, and finally at 166 North 9th Street. He died in 1871 and is buried at Christ Church.     <dcterms:title><![CDATA[Knight, Robert Tower]]></dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[<p>Robert Tower Knight was a master builder elected to the Carpenters' Company in 1833. His father and brother, both named Daniel, were members of the Carpenters' Company. Robert and his brother were the contractors for building the Philadelphia Contributionship for the Insurance of Houses from Loss by Fire on S. 4th street. They also built a mansion for Thomas Butler at 13th and Walnut in 1837. This building later became the Philadelphia Club. Robert Knight was fined 10$ in 1857 for resigning his secretary elect position in the Carpenters' Company. His son, Daniel Ridgeway Knight became a famous American artist in the second half of the 1800s. Robert Knight died in 1873.<br /><br /></p>

    <dcterms:title><![CDATA[Kramer, Philip]]></dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Phillip Kramer was a house carpenter in Philadelphia born in the year 1805. Kramer found enough success as a house carpenter for induction into the Carpenters' Company in 1854. He served the Company dutifully as a Warden from 1864-1866, on the Managing Committee 1867-69 and 1871-1873, and on the Library Committee in 1878. Kramer was partnered with Edward Knight Snow who was also elected to the Carpenters' Company in 1854. Their business was located at 1325 Buttonwood street.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[<span>Born into a Quaker family in Bucks Co., PA, Moses Lancaster came to Philadelphia around 1802. He was elected to the Carpenters' Company in 1811 and served as warden and on the Managing Committee. In her groundbreaking study of early Philadelphia Builders, Donna Rilling uses Lancaster as an example of a successful carpenter/builder. Lancaster retired from active business in 1841 and returned to Bucks County.</span>
