Title

Irish, Nathaniel

Description

Nathaniel Irish was a master builder elected to The Carpenters' Company in the early 1760s, although the loss of early Company records make it impossible to confirm the exact date. He was excluded from The Company in 1769. In 1775 he presented a design for an armed galley to the Committee of Safety for use on the Delaware River. From 1777 through 1780 he was a Captain of Flower's Artillery Artificer Regiment. In the late 1780s his Southwark property was sold at Sheriffs' sale and he appears to have moved shortly thereafter to Pittsburgh where he died in 1816.
