Pickands, Thomas
Description
Thomas Pickands was a master builder elected to the Carpenters' Company in 1804. Pickands likely migrated to the United States from Northern Ireland with his close friend, James Dinsmore, the well-known carpenter responsible for most of the woodwork at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. The Pickands house at 307 South 3rd street was built by Thomas Pickands and likely served as his residence at some point in his life. The Philadelphia City Directory listed him at 298 Sassafras street.
