Tatman & Moss Bio Dictionary Phila. Architects page 891. An example of a builder who in later years is listed as an architect. He was a partner in the firm of builders and architects, Yarnell & Cooper (Joseph Cooper). In the Philadelphia city directories for 1857 to 1879, Yarnell & Cooper is listed as builders and carpenters; but from 1880 to 1889, it became "architects and builders." Upon Joseph Cooper's death in 1889, Albert E. Yarnell (q.v.) succeeded to the business and in 1890 took as his partner an architect trained at the University of Pennsylvania, William D. Goforth (q.v.). With this change the partners worked under the name of Yarnell & Goforth. --------------- City Directory - 1854 - Yarnell (sic.), Hibberd, carpenter & builder, Barker West of 17th. --------------- See Stacy Reeves folder for clipping on labor demands of Carpenters' Union No. 8. --------------- Tatman & Moss Bio Dictionary Phila. Architects spells the name Yarnell. --------------- Carpenters' Co. Minutes-1861-57, 59 Hibberd Yarnall elected. Hibberd Yarnall not appearing to sign the Constitution must be proposed and elected again Carpenters' Co. Minutes-1866-119, 121 R.K. Betts proposed Hibberd Yarnall. Hibberd Yarnall elected. ---------------- From HABS report -- builder for Germantown Friends Meeting House, 1867-69
