Rowen, John
Description
John Rowen was a master builder elected to the Carpenters’ Company in 1803. He resided at 77 Locust street above 8th street. Little is known about Rowen’s life. In 1820, the Managing Committee of the Carpenters’ Company found Rowen to be very sick. John Rowen died soon after. His widow was looked after by the company and, in 1823, she was found to be in a very poor and sickly state. She eventually passed in 1834 and the Company paid for her coffin and funeral expenses.
