Michael Shaffer was a master builder elected to the Carpenters' Company of Philadelphia in 1834. He served on the Company's Managing Committee in 1852-1854. In the 1830 City Directory he was listed as a house carpenter living at 356 North 5th street. The 1856 City Directory lists Shaffer at the same residence. Michael Shaffer died in 1870.
